January 31, 2012

Dear CAMP Members and Supporters,

Assalamu Alaikum.

While likely a distant memory by now I do hope you all had an opportunity to rest, relax and recharge over the winter break.  I know we all lead busy lives and I just wanted to take a few minutes to update you on some of the key CAMP happenings including: (1) our Leadership Summit to be held on April 21st (2) our Member Survey, and (3) an introduction to your new CAMP team.

5th CAMP Leadership Summit

We are thrilled to announce that the 5th CAMP Leadership Summit will be held at the Wyndham Conference Center in Plainsboro, NJ on April 21, 2012.  The website for the Summit has gone live.

The theme of this year’s Summit is Emerging & Evolving as a Leader.  Whether you are well set on your career track or are still trying to find your place in a tough market, investing in yourself as a leader is critical.  Successful leadership requires a focus on continued skills development, dynamic and critical thinking, and a creative approach to problem solving. This year’s plenary keynote speakers, panels, and interactive skills-based workshops are all directed at helping you move forward on your leadership trajectory.

The Leadership Summit is also a great opportunity to network with over 250 Muslim professionals, so purchase your tickets early! Please visit our website for registration information and updates on programming and speakers.

Let us serve you better – CAMP’s Member Survey

CAMP today has some 7,000 members but unfortunately we know very little about you.  To ensure we can design programming that you find relevant and engaging we are today kicking off a member survey.  I urge you all to take just a few minutes to complete this survey and help us serve you better.

2012 CAMP Team

CAMP today is a stronger organization than it has ever been in its 18 year history which in no small part due to the efforts of many of our past and present officers.  I am honored to be the Executive Director of the oldest and largest Muslim professional organization in the United States and very privileged to be supported by a talented team of national officers including Uzma Kaleem (Deputy Executive Director), Sabrina Qureshi (Finance and Operations Director),  Zehra Naqvi (Conference Director), Afsha Bawany (Communications Director) and Aamer Hayat (Special Projects Director).  In addition our five chapters have some exceptionally dedicated and talented individuals led by Asma Hashmi in Chicago, Shabana Ather in New Jersey, Shezi Sardar in New York, Salman Punekar in Philadelphia and Kamal Solaiman in our newest chapter in Washington D.C.

CAMP is an exclusively volunteer-run organization.  We are always looking for dedicated individuals to join our team and for contributions from our supporters and sponsors to help us continue to provide a platform for Muslim American professionals to connect, lead and inspire.   For more information or to contact us regarding any of these initiatives, please email us at

Thank you again for your support!
