Come join CAMP-NY for the November session of our monthly Power Hours. Our Power Hours are designed to be casual, informal networking events with speakers that are engaged in activities of interest to Muslim professionals.

We have two amazing speakers for you:

Speaker: Rubina Shafi

As a concerned Pakistani-American, Rubina Shafi, J.D., travelled to Northern Pakistan to document the impact of the Great Flood, visiting spontaneous and organized camps as well as the impacted villages of Nowshera. Her photos bear witness to the devastation and impending consequences of what the United Nations has called the "biggest natural disaster in the history of the UN," but to also the cultural, political and economic nuances of the situation. Her previous experience living in and administering a volunteer-run relief camp after the devastating 2005 Pakistan earthquake informs her perspective.

Miss Shafi received her B.A in Philosophy, B.A. in Writing-Intensive English, and Law degree from Marquette University. She is currently an arts and event producer in New York City.

Speaker: Dr. Asher Hasan

Dr. Hasan has taken concrete initiative through his work to provide affordable health insurance in Asia.  He is providing affordable health care in Pakistan right now and is also focusing his efforts on high risk groups affected by the floods.  He is looking to bring awareness to the community on his visit to the United States.

A TED speaker and profiled by Forbes and The Asia Society, Dr. Hasan will provide invaluable insider information to our membership base.

You can visit his NGO at:

We look forward to welcoming both Rubina and Asher.
