Event Details

Alhumdulillah, for the past 10 years, the Islamic Center of NYU has has been providing free iftars to the community every night during Ramadan. This year, CAMP-NY is helping to support this effort by providing volunteers to help serve those who will break their fast. On average the iftar provides food for 250 - 300 guests a night.

The Prophet (PBUH) said: "Whoever gives food to a fasting person with which to break his fast, w...ill have a reward equal to his, without it detracting in the slightest from the reward of the fasting person."

CAMP-NY is calling for 15 volunteers to help set-up, serve, and clean up at Park 51 Masjid in Lower Manhattan. You don't have to be an NYU Student to volunteer or come to iftar.

Volunteers should be available at least 45 minutes before sunset to set-up and expect to spend 30 minutes cleaning up after services.

To RSVP and reserve your spot to volunteer for this event, please email Saima Khan at saimacampny@gmail.com with your name and phone number. You must email her to confirm your spot.

Also, if you are unable to volunteer, you can help financially support the iftaars. Each iftar costs can range from $700 - $1000. The Islamic Center of NYU looks to the community at large to help by sponsoring a night, half a night or any amount that is possible. Every donation will be greatly appreciated! Food is ordered nightly from local halal restaurants. For this reason, there is a consistent need for liquid funds.

If anyone wishes to donate by check, please make it out to New York University. Donations can also be made online through NYU's Office of Development by visiting http://www.nyu.edu/giving/make.gift/campaign.html?id=25 and following the "Ramadan Fund" Link. All donations made are tax-deductible and a receipt will be mailed to the address you provide when making your gift.
