CAMP CHICAGO March Power Hour
Please join CAMP CHICAGO for a new series of events called our Power Hour. Our Power Hours are designed to be casual, informal networking events with speakers that are engaged in activities that are an interest to Muslim professionals.
Our first speakers are a couple Anisa Noormohamed & Suhail Butt who will be speaking on their new ventures NISI CHICAGO and Actual Size Global.
Graduated from the University of Chicago with an M.A. in Middle East Studies
In 2007, Anisa spent a year in Cairo as a Boren Fellow conducting thesis research on The Reconciliation of Islamic Law with Modernity.
After returning to the States, Anisa embarked on NISI as a creative expression of her thesis.
NISI is a fashion concept that allows women to transition between public and private spaces, and allows for modesty in adherence with Islamic dress code. www.nisichicago.com
Graduated from the Central University of England with an M.A. in Architecture
He came to the US to work for architectural firm Skidmore Owens and Merrill.
Suhail started his own practice, Suhail Design Studio, designed such Chicago names as The MTV Real World set, Sonotheque, Tizi Melloul, Sugar, De La Costa, Mod, etc.www.suhaildesign.com
In 2008, Suhail and Anisa collaborated their efforts into starting a NFP, Actual Size Global, which allows the couple to contribute creativity towards providing secular education programs for children in the developing world.
